Ceteareth CAS 68439-49-6 refers to polyoxyethylene ethers of a mixture of high molecular mass saturated fatty alcohols. The number 20 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide residues in the polyoxyethylene chain.
These compounds are non-ionic surfactants work by attracting both water and oil at the same time, frequently used as emulsifiers in soaps and cosmetics. suitable emulsifying agents for oil-in-water types of emulsion. All conventional hydrophobic cosmetic raw materials can be emulsified to yield very stable oil-in-water emulsions.
Application
It is used as emulsifying agents for the production of creams, liquid emulsions, gels and other cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations. Extremely good results are obtained with mixtures of the various Ceteareth serials. The products are suitable emulsifying agents for oil-in-water types of emulsion. All conventional hydrophobic cosmetic raw materials can be emulsified to yield very stable oil-in-water emulsions
